BISMARCK — The North Dakota Department of Health announced 125 new COVID-19 cases in the state Saturday, Jan. 9.
Fargo 's Cass County led the state with 28 new cases. Minot's Ward County added 19 new cases. Grand Forks County and Bismarck's Burleigh County added eight and seven new cases, respectively.
Rural Adams County posted six new cases, while Dickinson's Stark County and Williston's Williams County each added five.
Barnes, Billings, Dickey, Dunn, Emmons, Foster, Golden Valley, Griggs, Hettinger, Kidder, Logan, McHenry, McKenzie, Mercer, Morton, Ramsey, Ranson, Renville, Richland, Rolette, Stutsman, Traill and Walsh counties each reported four or fewer new cases.
The new cases emerged from 4,382 tests, marking a daily positivity rate of 3.2%.

Active cases dropped by 138 from yesterday's number, with a total of 1,984 cases currently active statewide.
Cass County's active cases rose nominally over the week, with 434 active cases reported in the state's largest county Saturday. The figure is an increase of six from last Saturday's number , breaking a streak of six consecutive weeks that active cases have fallen in Cass County.
Active cases in Burleigh County dropped 19% over the past week, falling from 269 to 218.
Grand Forks County saw its active cases rise 30% over the past week, climbing from 128 to 166. Ward County experienced a slight increase in active cases over the past week, with 174 total active cases Saturday.
Williams County and Rolette County reported 103 and 101 active cases, respectively, Saturday. Rolette County's 71 active cases per 10,000 residents topped the state.
The state did not report any new deaths attributed to COVID-19 Saturday. Since the virus reached the state in March, North Dakota has tallied a total of 1,352 deaths from COVID-19. 1,114 of those deaths list the virus as the primary cause of death, while 238 others list it as a secondary cause or are pending death records. Of North Dakotans who have contracted the virus, 1.4% have died.

The department also reported an additional 231 COVID-19 recoveries Saturday. The state's recovery rate for those who have become infected with COVID-19 is 96%.
Current hospitalizations decreased by nine from Friday's figure, with 76 residents currently hospitalized due to the virus.
Nationwide, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported a total of 21,539,398 COVID-19 cases and 364,029 deaths attributed to the virus.
