Local man injured in rollover crash

A local man was transported to University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center after this single-vehicle rollover crash Saturday in Ashland County.

VERMILLION TWP. Hayesville Fire Department and EMS, Ashland Post of the State Highway Patrol and the Ashland County Sheriff's Office responded Saturday to a single-vehicle rollover crash in the 2000 block of state Route 179.

According to the State Highway Patrol, a 2008 black Dodge Ram 1500 driven by a Loudonville man was traveling northbound on state Route 179 when it traveled off the left side of the road in between a mailbox and pole, striking an old tree stump, going airborne and rolling over into a barn.

The man was entrapped in his vehicle but managed to get out by himself. He was taken by Hayesville EMS to University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center with unknown injuries and was cited for failure to control. The crash remains under investigation.

Traffic was maintained to one lane by the Ashland County Sheriff's Office and the State Highway Patrol until the wreckage could be removed.
