Two Ohio men were arrested early Friday after state police said a stolen firearm was found in the back seat of the car they were traveling in eastbound on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Mt. Pleasant Township.

Paul Milton Hobbs, 24, and Andre Marquon Turner, 25, both of Toledo, are convicted felons and not permitted to possess a firearm, according to court papers.

Both are being held in the Westmoreland County Prison. Hobbs’ bail is set at $20,000 on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property and firearms not to be carried without a license.

Turner’s bail is set at $50,000. He is charged with the same offenses plus drug possession and false identification to police.

Troopers pulled over the Chevrolet Malibu the pair was riding in near mile marker 83 at 7:45 a.m. Police said the car had illegal window tint and they searched it after noticing “indicators of criminal activity,” according to court papers. Hobbs was driving and Turner was the passenger, police said.

The stolen pistol was found in the back seat area. Police said the firearm was loaded. Turner initially gave police his brother’s name but troopers found Turner’s identification card with a bag of Ecstasy pills, according to court papers.

Both men have previous felony convictions in Ohio, according to investigators. Hobbs previously was convicted of robbery in 2014. Turner has a history of assault and other crimes, police said.

Neither suspect had an attorney listed in online court records. Preliminary hearings are set for Sept. 30.

Neither suspect had criminal history in Pennsylvania, according to online court records.
