WEXFORD COUNTY, MI -- A 61-year-old Cadillac woman has died after she was involved in an ATV crash in northern Wexford County.

Police said the woman was trapped under the vehicle and in shallow water. Life-saving measures were attempted but the woman, whose name hasn’t been released by police, was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

First-responders were dispatched around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, to a report of an ATV crash at the intersection of N. 43 Road and E 12 3/4 Road in Liberty Township, north of Manton.

After the vehicle was removed from atop the woman, CPR was initiated and the woman was transported to Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital for further treatment.

Police said the woman was not wearing a seat belt or helmet. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, police said.

The incident remains under investigation by the Wexford County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were assisted by Michigan State Police, Northflight EMS, and the Manton Fire Department.
