ISLAMABAD.Dec.26(Gwadar Pro) - On a webinar titled "Afghanistan Post-OIC Conference" on Saturday jointly held by Development Communications Network (Devcom-Pakistan) and DTN, Devcom-Pakistan Executive Director Munir Ahmed said the international community shall learn from China that has development agenda in Afghanistan without any political interference or any likes or dislikes based on political philosophies.

“Afghanistan is just another neighboring country for China which is important for the success of BRI and CPEC in terms of connectivity and trade for the prosperity of the region. China is also expected to play its role in the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan besides its repeated commitment to playing its role in rebuilding Afghanistan.” Munir Ahmed further explained.

The 17th extraordinary session of OIC has driven the global focus to the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. Pakistan’s Former Ambassador to China Naghmana Hashmi appreciated Pakistan’s role in organizing the OIC foreign ministers conference that could attract world's focus on Afghanistan. Pakistan has always been active on the Afghanistan issue, supporting it more silently and with pro-Afghanistan diplomacy.

She said that China has good relations with Afghanistan whatever the government was there in Kabul. “Never interfered in the internal politics, and kept on infrastructure development and economic interventions. China is expected to come forward to more infrastructural development and support for the education and health sectors.”

Ambassador Naghmana added that Chinese media has already been highlighting the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. Western media shall follow it. Pakistan shall be happy to give a road link to any humanitarian aid to flow through Pakistan.

Former ISI chief Lt. General (Retd) General Durrani maintained that the role of China can’t be undermined while talking about handling the present crisis in Afghanistan. China, Pakistan, and Iran jointly can begin with the needful interventions to combat the challenge of humanitarian aid.

Centre for China and Globalization Research Fellow Zoon Ahmed Khan stated China has been proactively supporting the construction and stability of the Afghan economy over the years and will continue to do it. China is on humanitarian support as well.

Afghanistan’s Former Senior Deputy Minister for Strategy and Policy Coordination Abdullah Khenjani and India’s Former Ambassador to Afghanistan Rakesh Sood suggested immediate measures to unfreeze Afghanistan assets, engagement of non-state actors for free flow of humanitarian aid, inclusive government, and action support to strengthen the economy in Afghanistan.
