Starr - On October 5, 2021, Jerry McCoy, husband of the late Lois Doyle, passed away in his home in Starr, SC at the age of 85.

Born in Iva, Jerry moved to Tampa to serve in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at MacDill AFB, where he met and married the love of his life, Lois Doyle. Following his time in service they would return to his hometown to be closer to family. He was an avid classic car enthusiast, showing off his immaculately restored '57 Chevy any chance he had. He enjoyed racing go-karts with his son, Troy, collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, and traveling the country with his wife. The McCoys were faithful members of Gethsemane Baptist Temple.

He is preceded in death by his wife Lois Doyle, his parents Pauline Terry and Robert McCoy, and his brother Richard "Freddie" McCoy.

He is survived by his siblings: Robert Carlton and wife Cathy of Huntsville, Alabama, Carolyn Cody and husband Michael of Anderson, Paulette and husband Alan Beusse of Starr, Leonard, and wife Carolyn of Honea Path, and 13 nieces and nephews. One uncle, Alvin, and his wife Dorothy Terry of Iva. One son, Troy Alan McCoy, granddaughter Kacie and husband Walker Reed and three great grandchildren, Eloise, Suzie, and Jude.

Graveside services will be held at 3pm on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at the Iva City Cemetery.

The Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory South Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
