The Institute for Cybersecurity Workforce Development at Kennesaw State University, just northwest of Atlanta, Ga., offers online bachelor's and master's degrees, as well as minors and certificates, to help students enter the fast-growing and lucrative cybersecurity sector.
The Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity
KSU's Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity is a fully online program that delivers a technically focused security degree. The program is taught by expert professors with backgrounds in information security, information systems, information technology, and criminal justice. This interdisciplinary nature allows students to develop deep technological skills; to understand the business, managerial, and administrative elements of cybersecurity; and to gain an awareness of cybercrime issues. Online cybersecurity minors complement many of KSU's other undergraduate degrees. Apply by June 1 for fall semester and by Nov. 19 for spring semester.
Master of Science in Cybersecurity
KSU's Master of Science in Cybersecurity welcomes students from all backgrounds and supplies them with the tools needed to lead in the dynamic cybersecurity field. Students gain the skills needed to strategize, develop, deploy, and lead enterprise cybersecurity efforts; respond to and recover from cybersecurity threats and incidents; analyze cybersecurity risk to information assets; and select and apply appropriate tools and methodologies to solve real-world cyber problems. Students will explore unique cybersecurity perspectives, including cybercrime and forensics, incident response, and infrastructure security.
This online master's program balances managerial and technical aspects of cybersecurity, allowing graduates to become successful security executives or engineers. The program can be completed in as little as one year for well-prepared students. Students without a background in cybersecurity must complete required IT foundation modules, which can be completed independently prior to the start of the program. Apply by July 1 for fall semester and by Nov. 1 for spring semester. A GMAT/GRE is not required.
Institute for Cybersecurity Workforce Development at Kennesaw State University
Institute for Cybersecurity Workforce Development was developed in 2015, and it has matured as a leader in information assurance and cyber defense education. Its mission is to foster interdisciplinary collaboration in cybersecurity workforce development across the University and community; develop and deliver educational opportunities, academic discovery, and commercialization opportunities; and help the state of Georgia support public and private sector workforce demands through the high-quality offering of certificates, degree programs, and ongoing education for managers and high-level executives. KSU has been an NSA/DHS National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education since 2004 and hosts the Southeast Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition.
