Spartans Move Up In Latest Football Poll

A win over Spain Park last week has Mountain Brook climbing up the ASWA top 10.

MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL β€” Mountain Brook improved to 4-0 last week with a win over Spain Park on the road, and in doing so the Spartans propelled themselves into the 7A top 5 in the most recent Alabama Sports Writers Association poll.

The Spartans beat the Jags 49-35 Friday night in Hoover, as quarterback Strother Gibbs accounted for a whopping six touchdowns - four on the ground and two through the air - with 121 rushing yards and 183 yards passing.

With the win, Mountain Brook improved to 2-0 in the region, and with a loss by previously 5th-ranked Hewitt-Trussville, the Spartans moved up to no. 5 in this week's poll.
