The village trustees of Oakley, Michigan has essentially disbanded its police department, which has recently been embroiled in scandal.
The decision was made Tuesday not to renew the contracts of the six part-time officers including Police Chief Robert Reznick, whose house was recently raided by federal agents, according to MLive.com.
Officials say that the members of the department only worked a total of 13-and-a-half hours last month, took zero service calls and conducted zero traffic stops.
"It would eliminate all the controversy and drama that's come from the department," Oakley Village President Rich Fish said during the meeting. "It's in the best interest of Oakley to not renew the contracts."
The department has previously come under fire after it was revealed the police force had wealthy individuals and celebrities serving reserve officers who would donated large sums of money.
The decision will be made at a later date whether to disband the police department entirely or to make changes.
