Syracuse, N.Y. — Destiny USA will reopen with temporarily reduced hours and services following its 10-week shutdown because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Syracuse shopping mall, the largest mall in New York, could open as early as Friday (May 29) under phase two of the state’s regional reopening plan.
Its new operating hours will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Before the mall shut down on government orders March 18 because of the pandemic, Destiny had longer hours — 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Nikita Jankowski, a spokesperson for the center, said individual stores may set their own hours, which could vary from the mall’s operating hours. She said shoppers should call ahead to a specific store to confirm whether it will be open and, if so, what their hours are. Some stores may choose to open next week or mid-June, she said.
In addition, she said wheelchair and stroller rentals will initially not be available to limit the chances of spreading the virus.
All of the mall’s outdoor parking lots will be open, but its basement garages will be closed, according to Jankowski.
