Selena's father threatens to sue man planning mini Trump rally at Corpus Christi statue of the late star
Late songstress Selena Quintanilla's father is threatening to sue a man who is holding a rally for President Trump at a Corpus Christi, Texas statue of the songstress.
Abraham Quintanilla Jr.'s legal team has sent a cease and desist letter to event organizer Joe Michael Perez, according to TMZ.
Quintanilla claims that Perez is guilty of copyright infringement for using the singer's name and image to promote his 'Trump Supporter Gathering' on Facebook.

Quintanilla owns rights to his daughter's name, image, likeness and trademarks.
In his letter Mr. Quintanilla says that his daughter's likeness and 'treasured legacy' have never been associated with partisan politics.
He claims Perez is linking the Tejano treasure with Trump without her estate's permission by using her image and name to promote his July 11 event.
One example is an image from the event's Facebook page which shows Perez putting a red Trump hat on top of the singer's statue.

He is also accusing Perez of violating copyright for his use of the slogan Bidi Bidi Trump Trump, what appears to be a play on the talent's famous track Bidi Bidi Bom Bom.
Furthermore, Mr. Quintanilla claims Perez is selling merchandise featuring his daughter's image, likeness and songs.

Perez told TMZ he plans on ignoring the letter and carrying on with the event.
'We are going to continue with our gathering on July 11 at the Selena Statue in Corpus Christi, Texas to show support for Trump for all races and ethnicities,' he told the site. Perez expects 150 attendees.
