George Sanchuk, 95

George Harry Sanchuk, age 95, of Warfordsburg, Pa., passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2020, at his home.Born in Austria, April 28, 1924, he was the son of the late Dan and Anna (Gilete) Sanchuk; and the husband of Carol Jean (Reed) Sanchuk.He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy; and retired from Bethlehem Steel, in Baltimore, Md., after 42 years of service.He was a member of Webster B. Harrison Post 26, in Hancock, Md., and a member of the National Rifle Association.He liked to play cards, to be outdoors, and to travel.In addition to his wife of 33 years, he is survived by three sons, Paul Sanchuk of White Plains, Md., and Jacob Sanchuk and Michael Sanchuk, both of Baltimore; two daughters, Linda Wilson of Port Deposit, Md., and Diane Painter of Rehoboth Beach, Del.; two stepchildren, Kathy Bowers of Warfordsburg, Pa., and William Mills of Hancock; 17 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons, Wayne, Robert and George Sanchuk; one stepson, Darwin Mills; three sisters; and one brother.The family will receive friends at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, from 10 a.m. until noon. Funeral services will begin at noon with Pastor Mark Faith officiating.
