Firefighters Snuff Out Grass Fire In Castro Valley

Hand crews and two dozers contained the fire before it could explode out of control.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — The wind overnight from Sunday to Monday was fierce, with a Red Flag Warning posted by the National Weather Service.

When a fire broke out along I-580 near Eden Canyon Road in Castro Valley, Alameda County and Cal Fire firefighters attacked the blaze aggressively, keeping it to just four acres tops.

Firefighters and equipment had been pre-positioned to strike quickly because of conditions.
