Golf/Soccer Roundup: West M's Porter highlights victory

WEST LAFAYETTE - West Muskingum sophomore Jack Porter shined on Thursday.

Porter took medalist honors with a 1-under-par 35, leading West Muskingum to a total of 177 in claiming a tri-match victory on the par-36 back nine of Hickory Flats.

Jacob Allen chipped in a 43, Ty Durant a 49 and Luke Howard a 50 for West.

Meadowbrook was second with 181. Cole Eltringham carded a 36 to pace the Colts, as Alex Dennis and Owen Dennis had 48s and Trent McManes a 49.

Austin Bahmer led the Black Bears, who had 221 as a team, with a 42. Coen Bible shot 54, Thad Cox 59 and Josh Woolard 66.

Girls Golf

Crooksville 180, West Muskingum 222: Medalist Riley McKenzie shot a 37 on the par-35 front nine of Crystal Springs in a Ceramics' win.

Other scores for Crooksville were Allison Baughman with a 43, Emily Zartman with a 47 and Laken Taylor with a 53.

West Muskingum was led by Gabby Ihlenfeld's 50, while Lauren Johnson and Chezney Wilcox each shot 55 and Frankie Warne added a 62.

Sheridan 194, River View 204, Licking Valley 213: Morgan Cornwell paced the Generals with a 46 in a tri-match victory at The Virtues.

Abby Riffle carded a 47, Calista Baird a 49 and Shauna White a 52 to round out Sheridan's scoring.

Madalyn Cutshall took home medalist honors with a 42 to lead the Lady Bears, as Paige Nicely chipped in a 51, Cailey Shriver 55 and Chloey Geog 56.

Ellie Lange shot 45, Nataley Banks 51, Savannah Friend 53 and Sage Chesser 64 for Valley.

Girls Soccer

Sheridan 8, Coshocton 8: Julie Nichols scored five times, as the Generals took 27 shots on goal in a MVL tie with the visiting Lady 'Skins.

Natalie Shriner added three goals for the Generals.

West Muskingum 2, New Lex 0: Ava Van Reeth knocked home both goals in the Tornadoes' victory.

Mariska McCune had one assist and Gracie Settles records the shutout for the winners.

River View 6, Morgan 1: Bailey Bowman knocked in three goals, as the Lady Bears improved to 7-0-1 overall with a Muskingum Valley League victory.

Melanie Giffin had two goals and an assist, Aleigha Hardesty added a goal and an assist, Kennedy Wright assisted on two goals and Krysten Smalley also had an assist in the win.

Mollie Moore scored for Morgan.
