Metcalfe County Schools welcome students back for in-person summer programs

EDMONTON, Ky.- An area school district is getting one step closer to pre-pandemic life as a summer activity makes a comeback.

The Metcalfe County Schools have started the summer camp and summer school programs as of Monday. This includes various hands-on activities for all grade levels.

Additionally, the schools are using the summer to offer credit recovery programs for students needing to catch up before the upcoming school year, as well as ACT prep, which school staff say is much more beneficial in person.

Metcalfe County High School principal Clint Graham said this summer is already shaping up to be more of a traditional summer experience as opposed 2020.

“Last summer, we did some credit recovery that was online, but that was pretty much it due to restrictions. There may have been some odds and ins that happened, but that’s why we came out this summer, and we wanted to provide multiple opportunities because of the lack of things we could do last summer,” Graham said.

These camps will also include various trips to places like Ralphie’s Fun Center, and even spots outside of South-Central Kentucky.
