SUNOL — A man killed early Thursday morning in a head-on traffic collision on Highway 84 was identified by the coroner’s office Monday as Jorge Esparza, 29, of Modesto.
The collision, that injured another person, happened about 5:16 a.m. Thursday on Pleasanton Sunol Road south of Koopman Road and near an Interstate 680 off-ramp, the California Highway Patrol said.
Esparza was pronounced dead at the scene. A second person was transported to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley with non-life-threatening injuries.
The roadway remained blocked until about 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
No further details about the collision have been released.
