Kinsey Returns to Titans on Futures Contract

Undrafted rookie out of Division III Berry College spent the entire 2020 offseason, preseason with Tennessee.

Mason Kinsey plans to go back to the start in his pursuit of an NFL career.

The wide receiver prospect out of Division III Berry College signed a futures contract with the Tennessee Titans on Friday, which means he will be with them through offseason activities and training for the second consecutive year. Kinsey posted photos of him as he signed the contract.

The Titans have not yet formally announced the deal.

With his addition, Tennessee now has 18 players signed to futures contracts for 2021. Fourteen of them spent some or all of 2020 on the roster and/or practice squad.

“Thankful to be back and (a part) of something great,” Kinsey wrote on Instagram. “Year 2 coming up.”

Kinsey became the first player from Berry to get an NFL shot when he signed with Tennessee in 2020, following a record-setting college career. He was with the Titans throughout the offseason and preseason but was released when NFL rosters were reduced to 53 players.

He has yet to appear in a regular-season game, but he continues to get chances to prove himself. The New England Patriots signed him to their practice squad three days after the Titans released him. The Patriots released him twice, the second in mid-November, but he spent roughly half the season as a member of their practice squad.

Futures contracts do not go into effect until the start of the new league year in March.
