Action against Bahrain firm hiring only expats

Manama : The authorities have taken disciplinary measures against a Bahrain-based company that posted a job vacancy ad “strictly for non-Bahrainis” recently.

Labour and Social Development Ministry stated on its official Instagram page that “it has been observing what has been circulating on social media networks, regarding a Bahrain-based company that is strictly seeking hiring non-Bahraini employees.”

The ministry added that the company and its details have been identified after monitoring the ad. The authorities are also undertaking necessary procedures against the consulting agency that allowed this incorrect policy against citizens. 

“This is to ensure that citizens are given the priority in employment, according to the law, and to make sure that such violations are not repeated,” the ministry stated.

The concerned officials in the ministry revealed that “the company is operating under the contracting system, which allows third parties to process its employment procedures according to the qualifications and conditions of the company”. 

The ministry added that the outsourcing company has posted the ad in accordance with the requests and requirements of the hiring company.

The ad has created a wave of condemnation and controversy across the Kingdom, as many Bahrainis remain unemployed, while a Bahrain-based company is refusing to hire citizens, breaking the laws of the Kingdom.
