SHANGHAI, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Chinese star figure skater Jin Boyang, the fourth at 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics, won bronze medal at 2019 Shanghai Trophy here on Saturday

Dancing to the music "the path of Silence" and "Yellow Moon", the 22-year-old Jin made a minor mistake in his first jump and then fell in a Toe Loop during the skating to finish the free dance in 161.46, the second best score on Saturday, only after Aleksandr Samarin of Russia in 161.70.

A better performance in the free dance guaranteed Jin, who disappointedly ranked fifth in the short program on Friday, to rise up to the third place in total of 232.17.

"I only performed 50 percent of my skating. The Shanghai Trophy is a good chance for me to practice," Jin said, who now aims at the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating at Las Vegas to reel off on Oct 18. "I hope I can show my best then."

Matteo Rizzo of Italy, the leader in the short program, topped the podium in 248.53, while Aleksandr Samarin took the sliver with 246.36.

In ice dance, Russian pair Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov, who dominated the rhythm dance on Thursday, took the gold with a total of 213.54, beating the second-placed Lilah Fear/Lewis Gibson of Britain with 193.80.

Natalia Kaliszek/Maksym Spodyriev of Poland won the bronze in 178.59, while two Chinese pairs Guo Yuzhu/Zhao Pengkun and Ning Wanqi/Wang Chao ranked fourth and fifth respectively. Enditem
