Linn reports 45 new virus cases, Johnson 36

Iowa on Wednesday reported 509 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 46,490 since the pandemic began in March.
Of the 6,103 test results reported, 8.34 percent were positive.
Linn County reported 45 new cases - its fourth highest daily tally - for a total of 2,161 cases.
Linn reported the second most new cases in the state, following Polk County, which reported 103 new cases.
Linn County's rolling seven-day average - updated by The Gazette at 11 a.m. daily - hit 38, a new high.
Johnson County reported 36 new cases, bringing its rolling seven-day average to 25.
Eight deaths were reported, with two in Dubuque County and one each in Emmet, Franklin, Jasper, Marshall, Polk and Webster counties. The state's death toll from the virus now stands at 893.
The number of Iowans hospitalized for COVID-19 rose from 243 to 248, and the patients in intensive care units increased from 75 to 77. The number of patients on ventilators also increased, from 32 to 34.
Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion, site of an outbreak, reported one new case, bringing the total reported to 40, with 35 recovered.
Solon Nursing Care Center also reported one new case, with 35 total and four recoveries.
