Elliston Place Soda Shop reopening in Nashville, restored to original 1930s style

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — What's old is new again as a long time Nashville Staple will begin a new era this morning.

The Elliston Place Soda Shop is reopening it's doors after a massive renovation returning it to its 1930s era style. The shop originally opened in 1939.

The soda shop is back on the block after an 18-month overhaul and closed even before the COVID-19 pandemic began. Patrons can expect timeless elements like the vivid red tile, stainless steel soda fountain, retro furniture and refurbished mini juke boxes at every booth.

“The restoration of Elliston Place Soda Shop was a labor of love,” said Nashville real estate developer Giarratana, who bought the Soda Shop with his wife, Lisa, in 2019 immediately after former owner announced plans to shutter it. “When I first came to town over 30 years ago, the Soda Shop welcomed me with open arms. I’d take a little sass from Miss Linda and treat our kids to the best pies and milkshakes in the world. We’re delighted to open the doors wide again to anyone looking for a delicious slice of Nashville like no other.”

The popular stop comes with a lot of history - like Jimmy Buffet popping over for some grub after playing at the iconic Exit/In.

It's all about the food here - with favorites like milkshakes and pies.

"The taller the meringue, the closer to God," Jim Myers said in an interview Tuesday morning. "In the South, we call mac and cheese a vegetable and banana pudding a pie."
