COVID-19 Outbreak Identified At Texas Roadhouse In Crystal Lake

Anyone who visited the restaurant between July 19 and Aug. 4 may have been exposed to the virus, health officials said.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — The Texas Roadhouse in Crystal Lake has closed temporarily after local health officials identified a COVID-19 outbreak at the restaurant. The McHenry County Department of Health is urging anyone who visited the restaurant or who has been in close contact with anyone who has worked at or visited the establishment between July 19 and Aug. 4 — and who also has any coronavirus symptoms — to check with their physician or be tested for the virus, according to a news release from the health department.

The restaurant, at 835 Cog Circle, has voluntarily closed and is working with local health officials to find ways to safely reopen, according to a news release from the health department.

Health officials say close contact is defined as being within 6 feet of a person known to have COVID-19 for at least 15 minutes starting from two days before the onset of the illness, according to the press release. Symptoms of COVID-19 may include:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Anyone who experiences trouble breathing, pain or pressure in the chest, confusion, inability to stay awake or bluish lips or face should seek immediate emergency medical care, according to the news release.
