A man was found dead after firefighters with the Deer River Fire Department extinguished a camper fire early Monday morning at Little Winnie Resort & Campground, north of Deer River.
Itasca County Dispatch received a call reporting the fire around 12:10 a.m. Monday, according to a news release from the Itasca County Sheriff's Office. The caller said a boat and truck were near the camper, suggesting the camper could be occupied.
The name of the victim is being withheld until the family is notified.
The Minnesota State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
