The American Heart Association, the world’s leading nonprofit organization focused on heart and brain health for all, together with its signature movement, Go Red for Women®, brings a new twist to women’s fashion. On Saturday, February 8, seventeen heart and stroke survivors walked the runway, dressed in Bloomingdale's’ latest red fashion as they continue to bring awareness to the No. 1 killer among women, cardiovascular disease.

The fashion show, hosted by Bloomingdale's Short Hills and Leslie Patrizio, welcomed friends, family, and the public to shop the latest “red” trends in support of healthy hearts and minds. The models took the runway as friends and family cheered, proudly supporting the fight against heart disease and stroke. All seventeen women have survived some form of cardiovascular disease and/or stroke and reside in the North Jersey area, urging all to take action to reduce their personal risk of cardiovascular disease.

While nearly 80 percent of cardiac events can be prevented through education and lifestyle changes, cardiovascular diseases continue to be the leading cause of death in women, claiming the lives of one in three women. Each year more women die of heart disease than all forms of cancer combined. It’s time to change this fact. It’s time to be demanding when it comes to women’s heart and brain health and ask others to do the same because together, there is nothing we can’t achieve.
