The Hot Summer Nights Show and Shine has got the green light

The United Yuma Firefighter's annual event raises funds for firefighters, their families and other nonprofits

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The United Yuma Firefighters Charity is like any other charity, they have to raise money to help their cause. So, they brainstormed on ways to give the public something they want and raise money for their charity.

Being that many of the committee members are auto enthusiasts, it was only a matter of time before the idea of a car show was introduced. Not long after the Hot Summer Nights Car Show was born.

In a normal year, the Hot Summer Nights Car Show would be an added feature to the City of Yuma's Celebrate the Heat block party. But, in a pandemic, the car show has been downgraded to a show and shine and it will now be part of the city's Tunes and Tacos Pre-Party block party.

Simply, a show and shine is a mild display, vehicles are parked, cleaned, and shown.

The Hot Summer Night Show and Shine will take place on the south end of Main Street in downtown Yuma. Participants can arrive around 5 p.m. and the registration is $30 per vehicle.

Proceeds from the event will go to aid firefighters, their families and other nonprofits.
