The following information comes from the Glencoe, Northfield, Wilmette and Winnetka police departments as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges represent merely accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.


GLENCOE

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone smashed the driver's side window of a BMW in the 1000 block of Julia Court at about 3 a.m. on July 4. Nothing was reported stolen from inside.

STOLEN CARS FLEE
A stolen Range Rover and Infiniti fled the area of Burr Avenue and Tower Road around 4 a.m. on July 4 after officers tried to conduct a traffic stop. The two cars sped through stop signs and red lights and also failed to property signal, police reported.

BICYCLE THEFT
Prior to 4:30 p.m. on July 4, thieves stole a pair of locked bicycles from the first block of Hazel Avenue, including a child's bike and an adult Trek brand bike.

IDENTITY THEFTS

  • A Sheridan Road resident reported on the afternoon of July 3 that they got a voicemail from someone claiming to be with the Social Security Administration about suspicious activity using their identity. Police learned someone had tried to open up accounts in the resident's name at Citibank, Capitol One, Western Union, Synchrony Bank and Paypal.
  • A Euclid Avenue resident reported on the afternoon of July 6 that the Illinois Department of Employment Security mailed them a prepaid MasterCard even though they had never applied for any benefits. Police were uncertain how it occurred at the time of the report.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Zayveon T. Thomas, 18, of the 13100 block of West Wakefield Drive, Beach Park, was arrested on the morning of July 2 near the 600 block of Westley Road following a reported carjacking at Glencoe Golf Club. Prosecutors said Thomas was wanted on a juvenile arrest warrant at the time of the incident. Read more...

A 22-year-old Pomona, California, man was issued a local ordinance citation for soliciting without a permit around 7 p.m. on July 3 in the 1100 block of Longmeadow Road.

Edward C. Pamatmat, 36, of the 8600 block of Gross Point Road, Skokie, was arrested at 10:15 a.m. on July 6 at O'Hare International Airport and charged with forgery in connection with an Sept. 8, 2019, incident in the 600 block of Dundee Road.

INCIDENTS

THEFT
Someone stole a leaf blower from a landscaping contractor working in the area of the first block of Meadowview Drive around 10 a.m. on June 29.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON
Police are investigating a report that an unidentified man parked in a driveway in the first block of Brookhill Drive and walked to the back of the home before leaving a little while later.

CAR BURGLARY
Someone burglarized a car parked in the the 100 block of Latrobe Avenue during the night of July 2 or morning of July 3. Nothing was reported stolen inside.

SOLICITOR COMPLAINTS
On the evening of July 3, officers were called to the 300 block of Churchill Street and the 2100 block of Winnetka Road for reports of unregistered solictors in the area. Police reported they spoke to the solicitor and explained how to register with the village.


WILMETTE

INCIDENTS

STOLEN CAR/PURSUIT
Around 2:30 a.m. on July 3, a resident in the 2300 block of Iroquis Road reported seeing multiple people stealing their Land Rover from the driveway after it had been left unlocked with a key fob inside.

Police dispatched to the scene found another stolen car, a silver SUV which fled west on Lake Avenue and onto the southbound Edens Expressway. Two officers pursued that car into Chicago until the chase was called off at Wilson Avenue.

As the cops exited at Irving Park Road to turn around and head back north, they noticed multiple people jumping out of the stolen SUV at the bottom of the ramp before getting into another car.

It turned out the abandoned SUV was reported stolen in Naperville on June 28. The Range Rover stolen from Wilmette was spotted around 4 a.m. on July 4, when Morton Grove police reported it got onto the Edens heading south. A couple hours later, Northbrook police found the SUV abandoned in the 3400 block of Techny Road.

THEFT
Someone stole a bicycle from an alley behind a garage in the 1500 block of Walnut Avenue sometime between 1:50 and 2:05 p.m. on July 4.


WINNETKA

INCIDENTS

FAKE PROFESSOR SCAM
A Cherry Street resident reported around 6:30 p.m. that someone scammed them out of more $712.83 in gift cards between June 14 and June 30 after they opened an email from someone claiming to be a Northwestern University professor offering temporary work. Police reported the resident believed they were buying gift cards for the fake professor for supplies.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT
An Oak Street resident received a disturbing letter in the mail on the afternoon of July 3 from an unidentified sender.

BIKE THEFT
A resident in the 500 block of Hawthorn Lane reported someone stole an unlocked boys' bicycle worth $250 from their driveway after it was left out from 8:30 p.m. July 3 to 10:30 a.m. on July 4.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone caused $55 in damage to a flower pot at the corner of a property in the 1000 block of Elm Street between 8 p.m. July 4 and 8 a.m. July 5.

VANDALISM
An officer discovered graffiti on the south wall of the underpass in the 1000 block of Northwestern Drive had been spray-painted in white between 4 p.m. July 4 and 11 a.m. July 5. Police did not specify the nature of the graffiti.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

John David Lykins II, 20, of the 1000 block of Tower Road, Winnetka, was arrested around 10 p.m. on July 4 at his home after police got a report of a disturbance there. Lykins was charged with domestic battery as a result of officers' investigation.

Alexis A. Rodriguez, 24, of the 200 block of South Channel Drive, Round Lake Beach, was arrested around 11:30 p.m. on July 5 in the 800 block of Sheridan Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and DUI with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater. Police also issued him an improper lane usage citation.

Kent A. Heitzinger, 66, of the 1600 block of Hinman Avenue, Evanston, was arrested around 6:30 p.m. on July 1 and charged with disorderly conduct following an investigation into a report that he was yelling at a woman in front of an ice cream restaurant in the 500 block of Lincoln Avenue. Heitzinger is a Winnetka-based attorney who last year represented the man accused of murdering his brother in Northfield in 2017 in an abortive effort to get the judge to release guns seized during the investigation, according to past reports.
