Tewksbury Job Seekers: How To Stay Energized During Your Job Search

As a job seeker, one is well aware of the ups and downs of job seeking -- from it being exciting and energizing to it being overwhelming, frustrating and feeling like it is going nowhere. Through a series of exercises, discussions and videos, participants will walk through the steps they can take to stay energized and move closer to one’s desired outcome. Led by Cindy Isaacs, a Certified Infinite Possibilities Trainer, who has a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Boston University and is licensed at the LICSW Level. You are invited to the 3rd Annual "Welcome To Tewksbury" Reception, sponsored by the Library and the Wilmington-Tewksbury Chamber of Commerce. New residents are encouraged to drop in anytime during the 90-minute reception to: Meet representative from town government, schools, businesses, and community organizations. Learn about their services, programs, and volunteer opportunities. Pick up a free Welcome Bag filled with information, coupons & gift items from Chamber businesses. Enjoy conversation & light refreshments with other residents who are new to Tewksbury. While the evening is geared towards new residents, ALL residents are welcome. Evening Book Group Meeting: The Whole Town's Talking

Join us for a discussion of The Whole Town's Talking by Fannie Flagg. Lordor Nordstrom created, in his wisdom, not only a lively town and a prosperous legacy for himself but also a beautiful final resting place for his family, friends, and neighbors yet to come. "Resting place" turns out to be a bit of a misnomer, however. Odd things begin to happen, and it starts the whole town talking. With her wild imagination, great storytelling, and deep understanding of folly and the human heart, the beloved Fannie Flagg tells an unforgettable story of life, afterlife, and the remarkable goings-on of ordinary people. Speed-Repping: Speak With Your Local, State & Federal Elected Officials

What is Speed Repping? Following a format much like Speed Dating, Speed Repping provides community members five minutes to sit down with their elected officials in a one-on-one setting and ask them questions about who they are, what they do, voice concerns, or offer suggestions.

Participating Elected Officials: Tewksbury's federal delegation -- Senator Elizabeth Warren, Senator Ed Markey, and Congressman Seth Moulton -- will each be spending an aide to the event. Tewksbury's state delegation -- State Senator Barry Fingeold, State Representative David Robertson, and State Representative Tram Nguyen -- will be present. A representative from each of Tewksbury's locally elected boards and committees -- Board of Selectmen, Planning Board, Board of Health, Board of Library Trustees, Tewksbury School Committee and Shawsheen Tech School Committee -- will also be on hand, including Selectmen Chair Jay Kelley, Planning Board Chair Stephen Johnson, and Shawsheen Tech School Committee member Patricia Meuse.

How can you participate? Register for one of the two hour-long sessions --10am to 11am or 11am to noon. Please note you'll be expected to speak with ALL 12 officials for 5 minutes each during the hour-long session. All participants are expected to remain civil and respectful during this event. AUTHOR VISIT: Explore New England's Waterfalls with Greg Parsons (*RR)

Greg Parsons, author of "New England Waterfalls: A Guide To More Than 500 Cascades and Waterfalls," will discuss all things New England waterfalls, give you the definitive must-sees, and share some of his beautiful photography. Parsons is a native New Englander who has been discovering new waterfalls and updating his popular guide for 15 years. A book signing will take place after the presentation for those interested. Tiny Tykes Story Time

For young children ages 0 to 18 months. Older siblings are always welcome to join in! Join us for a fun session of stories, songs, fingerplays, instruments, and gentle movement that help build early literacy skills. Please note, we have 2 sessions that are the same, one is at 10:15am and the other is at 11:00am. There is no registration, HOWEVER, there is limited space in the room. Please check in at the Children's desk upon arrival to check to see if there is still room available in the session.

Muggle Support Group

Do you love fantasy books? Are you sad you never got your Hogwarts letter? Do you wish you had a pet dragon? The Muggle Support Group is the book club for you! Each month, we will read a different fantasy book and discuss it. This month, we will be discussing “Wings of Fire: The Dragonet Prophecy” by Tui T. Sutherland. Pick up a copy ahead of time and be ready to talk about it at the meeting! This book club is for kids ages 8-11. Register HERE.

Trick or Treat at the Library

Children of all ages are encouraged to come to the Library in costume on Halloween and trick or treat at all of our service desks--the Front desk, the Children's desk, the Teen desk and the Reference desk. Treats will be available at all of the desks. No registration is required and this will go on all day!
