Coastal Roundup: Theodore clinches 7A, Region 1 title; Vigor, Fairhope win

T.J. Richardson ran for 119 yards and a pair of touchdowns and Kierstan Rogers ran for 128 yards and a pair of touchdowns as Class 7A No. 5 Theodore clinched the Region 1 title with a 49-17 victory at Foley.

Richardson carried just eight times, averaging 14.9 yards per carry. Rogers carried 13 times, averaging almost 10 yards per carry.

Moleik Kennedy caught a pair of TD passes. Nylan Harper also had a TD catch.

QB Landon Hirtreiter was 9-of-15 for 118 yards and 3 TDs.

Theodore improved to 8-1 overall, 7-0 in region play with its eighth straight win. Foley is 1-7, 1-6.

Vigor 21, St. Michael 7

Anthony Mix Jr. ran for a touchdown and threw for another as the Wolves won at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.

Mix scored on a 1-yard run and threw a 9-yard TD pass to Brennan Maye-Jordan.

Jacori Barnes rushed for 65 yards on 10 carries.

The defense was led by Abraham Daniels with 12 tackles, including two for a loss, and a sack.

Jermaine Holcombe returned an interception 76 yards for a touchdown.

Fairhope 45, Alma Bryant 19

Duke commit Riley Leonard ran for two touchdowns and threw for two as the Pirates pulled away to beat Alma Bryant at home.

The Hurricanes trailed just 21-13 early in the third quarter after Aydan Adams returned a kickoff 99 yards.

However, the Pirates scored the next 24 points to put the game away.

Leonard threw touchdown passes to Pratt Turner and Ramone Bradley.

David Sampey had an interception return for a touchdown.

Fairhope improved to 7-2 overall, 4-2 in 7A, Region 1 with its third straight win.

Bryant fell to 3-6, 2-5

Faith Academy 33, B.C. Rain 0

Shemar James scored three touchdowns as Class 5A No. 8 Faith Academy finished its regular season at 8-1.

The Rams had their regular-season finale against Lumberton, Miss., next week canceled. They will host a first-round playoff game.

James scored on runs of 5 and 10 yards and a 30-yard pass from Colton Wood.

Wood also hit Gabe Broadus on a 40-yard pass.

Christian Burnett scored the final touchdown on a 10-yard run.

Faith’s only loss this year came against No. 2 St. Paul’s – 20-6 on Sept. 19.

Robertsdale 14, Baldwin County 6

Taven Curry ran for 187 yards and a touchdown for the Golden Bears.

Logan Wilson also scored a touchdown.

Robertsdale snapped a five-game losing streak after a 3-0 start and finished 4-5, 2-5 in 6A, Region 1.

Saraland 41, Citronelle 7

Corey Darrington scored a pair of rushing touchdowns as Saraland cruised on the road.

Darrington scored on runs of 4 and 2 yards.

Karson Green scored on a 4-yard run and also hit CT Englebert with a 20-yard touchdown pass.

Kyle Wiley had a 1-yard TD run. D’Arrius Washington had a 4-yard TD.

The Spartans led 35-0 at half. They will be the No 2 seed from Class 6A, Region 1 and host a first-round playoff game.

Chickasaw 48, Excel 24

Jarius Houston ran for 264 yards and 3 TDs on 19 carries in Chickasaw’s win.

Tobias Robinson added 14 carries for 169 yards and a pair of touchdowns and was 9-of-13 passing for 112 yards and another score.

Greg Watkins had an 82-yard kickoff return for a score and also had five carries for 87 yards.

Barry Davenport led the defense with 19 tackles, including two for a loss.
