Rain fell on the Coachella Valley early Tuesday, but there wasn't much. By 7 a.m., the National Weather Service recorded 0.04 inches of rain at Palm Springs International Airport with only a trace of rain reported in Thermal.

Rainfall began about 1 a.m. and continued for several hours, forecasters say.

Conditions are expected to clear up for the rest of the week with temperatures surpassing 70 degrees as the weekend approaches.

Since Jan. 1, Palm Springs has received 0.80 inches of rain. That's down from 1.26 inches of rain that fell last year through Jan. 20.
