Peter "Pete" A. Bovenzi, 89, of Wynantskill, NY, died May 21 while surrounded by his family.

Born in Syracuse, Bovenzi lived in Central New York for most of his life. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II.

He studied drama in Hollywood and founded the S.T.A.G.E. Players in 1952, where he acted in, directed and produced works for the theater for more than 50 years. A wordsmith, Bovenzi was indefatigable in his pursuit of the perfect words for his plays, poems, stories, songs and other writings.
