Targeted? Police van damaged in grenade attack

A case has been registered under anti-terrorism laws and further investigation is under way

MINGORA: A police van was partially damaged in a hand grenade attack in Bahrain, Swat on Friday morning. Zerab Gul, an official of Bahrain police, told The Express Tribune the incident occurred at around 11am when the van was on routine patrol in Manikyal. “Unidentified assailants lobbed a hand grenade at it as the van reached Pishmal,” he said. “As a result, a loud explosion was heard and the van was partially damaged. However, no casualties have been reported.” According to Gul, an ASI, two gunmen and a driver were travelling in the vehicle. A search operation was conducted in the region. However, no arrests were made till the filing of this report. “A case has been registered under anti-terrorism laws and further investigation is under way,” the official added.
