MAYVILLE - The city of Mayville is offering resources for those affected by flooding last week.

Flash flooding on Oct. 1 and Oct. 2 caused the city to declare an emergency, which allowed for assistance to be requested for repairs, Dodge County Emergency Management Deputy Director Joe Meagher told USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin.

The flooding impacted houses as well as St. John's Lutheran School, which closed the school on Wednesday, according to its Facebook page.

A SUV ignores a road closed sign and drives west on flood-covered Hwy. 28 through the the Theresa marsh Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2019 in Dodge County, Wis. Storms rolled across the state late Tuesday and early Wednesday prompting the National Weather Service to issue flash flood watches and warnings.

The city is looking into low-interest loan options for homeowners who were affected by the flood. Homeowners who are experiencing flood-related hardship are asked to contact City Treasurer Greg Zipfel at 920-387-7900, ext. 1207, or gzipfel@mayvillecity.com, according to a news release from Mayville Mayor Rob Boelk.

The Department of Public Works was also planning to collect bulk items damaged by the flood through Wednesday with residents placing their items at the curb for pickup. After Wednesday, however, owners must dispose of the items themselves, according to the release.
