In the form of a nine-minute home video, award-winning musician Alicia Keys announced she would be hosting the 61st Annual Grammy Awards on Feb. 10 in Los Angeles.
“I’m soooo EXCITED to announce that I’ll be hosting the 61st Annual Grammy Awards !!” she wrote on Twitter to break the news. “There’s so much in store and I CAN’T WAIT for y’all to see it ALL come to life Tune in on February 10th at 5PM PST / 8PM EST. Only on CBS!”
Keys, who has won 15 Grammys, is seen in the video being asked to host, and is subsequently shown telling members of her family such as her mother and her husband Swizz Beatz, who is lying in bed as his wife is telling him the news.
“You could have waited ’til I got dressed,” he tells her. She also tells her children, who don’t seem very impressed.
Aside from her music, Keys is also well-known for her efforts in female advancement in the music industry. She is the head of She Is The Music, an initiative featuring female executives, songwriters, artists, engineers, producers and publishers that focuses on reshaping the image of and providing opportunities for women in music. With the show featuring several female nominees this year, we couldn’t think of a better choice for a host.
