The school year just started, but I know some of you already are thinking about next year. Specifically, you're contemplating your magnet school options.

Luckily, both Durham Public Schools and Wake County Public School System hold magnet school fairs where parents and kids can learn more. Both are more than a month away, but they're worth putting on your calendar now if you plan to go.

At both, you can meet representatives from each of the schools and learn more about their special offerings.

Wake County Magnet, Year-Round and Early College Schools Fair

The event is 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 26, at Panther Creek High School, 6770 McCrimmon Parkway, Cary.

More information is on Wake's website.

Durham Public Schools Magnet & CTE Pathway Fair

It's from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, at Southern School of Energy and Sustainability, 800 Clayton Rd., Durham.

More information is on Durham's website.
