Kentucky posts record number of COVID-19 cases Thursday, Gov. Andy Beshear announces

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky posted a record number of COVID-19 cases and the second highest number of deaths on Thanksgiving, Gov. Andy Beshear announced Friday evening. 

Kentucky saw 3,870 positive COVID-19 cases Thursday and 32 confirmed deaths, according to a Friday news release. Friday added another 1,747 cases and 4 deaths. 

“These new case reports are truly alarming. Please be careful when you’re shopping and consider safer options, like purchasing gifts online for delivery or curbside pick-up,” Beshear said in the release. 

Friday's positivity rate was 8.85%. There were 1,714 people hospitalized as of Friday, 390 in the ICU and 216 currently on ventilators.

  • A 66-year-old woman from Bell County
  • An 84-year-old man from Boone County
  • An 81-year-old woman from Calloway County
  • An 89-year-old man from Calloway County
  • An 86-year-old man from Christian County
  • A 96-year-old woman from Fayette County
  • An 86-year-old man from Fayette County
  • A 78-year-old woman from Floyd County
  • An 89-year-old woman from Graves County
  • A 67-year-old man from Graves County
  • An 88-year-old woman from Hardin County
  • An 82-year-old woman from Henderson County
  • A 64-year-old woman from Henderson County
  • A 91-year-old man from Henderson County
  • A 100-year-old woman from Hickman County
  • A 69-year-old man from Hopkins County
  • An 82-year-old woman from Jefferson County
  • An 95-year-old woman from Jefferson County
  • An 88-year-old man from Jefferson County
  • A 63-year-old man from Johnson County
  • A 92-year-old woman from Lee County
  • A 65-year-old man from Lee County
  • A 91-year-old man from Livingston County
  • An 88-year-old woman from McCracken County
  • A 61-year-old woman from Monroe County
  • An 83-year-old woman from Monroe County
  • A 91-year-old woman from Montgomery County
  • A 96-year-old woman from Pike County
  • A 73-year-old man from Pike County
  • An 81-year-old man from Pike County
  • A 92-year-old man from Pike County
  • A 95-year-old man from Pike County
  • A 75-year-old man from Rockcastle County
  • An 86-year-old man from Shelby County
  • An 84-year-old woman from Warren County.

The Indiana State Department of Health reported 5,700 additional COVID-19 cases and 33 more deaths Friday.

These additions bring the state's case total up to 324,537 and the total deaths to 5,328.
