YUKON – The Yukon football team will have a new head coach this fall.

Jeremy Reed will step down as Yukon's head football coach after four seasons of leading the program, he confirmed to The Oklahoman on Thursday. Reed is taking an assistant coaching position at Bethel College in Kansas, where he will also be an assistant athletic director and campus Fellowship of Christian Athletes representative.

"I'm excited for this next chapter of life," Reed said. "I've always had a great passion for football and the FCA coaches ministry. God has given me the opportunity to do both at Bethel College."

Yukon went 6-5 in 2020 and qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 2013 as the fourth seed. Reed went 20-21 during his four-year tenure and didn't have a season worse than 4-6. The Millers won only six games in the three seasons before Reed's arrival.

Reed came to Yukon after a season coaching at Lake Hamilton, Ark., where his team went 6-5. Before that, he was al Altus for two seasons. He guided the Bulldogs to the Class 5A state championship in 2015, going 13-1 and topping Collinsville at Yukon High School for the state.

"It's hard to be short in how I sum up my time at Yukon," Reed said. "It has been an unbelievable experience for me as a head coach and as a person, being able to watch what was here when I stepped on campus and the steps we've taken each year. There's so many small stories off the field that will make me remember the most of my time here."
