Hotel Receptionist Steals Guest's Debit Card In Stafford: Police

This, boys and girls, is kind of the opposite of receiving Marriott points. The Stafford victim earned something else entirely.

STAFFORD, VA—This, boys and girls, is kind of the opposite of receiving Marriott points. Namely, a receptionist at the Marriott property Fairfield Inn and Suites, 2784 Jefferson Davis Highway, stole a guest's debit card (and driver's license) and used it to make purchases, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.

Joseline Adrianna Blanco, 28, of Spotsylvania, was charged with credit card theft and petit larceny.

This past Sunday, police received a call from a father who said during a recent stay his daughter's purse was missing. He said he called the hotel, and a receptionist said the purse said the purse was found in a guest room but without the debit card and driver's license.

He then told the deputy his daughter found that the card had been used a purchase of $37.10 at a convenience store and $25 at a nail salon, after which she cancelled the card to prevent further theft. So the deputy—Dylan Aubrecht— went to work.

He reviewed video surveillance footage from the convenience store when the $37.10 purchase was made. In doing so, he found that the person who used the card was a woman with a tattoo on her neck.

Armed with that information, he went to the hotel to see whether anyone might recognize the person. Well, it turns out he was greeted by a receptionist and immediately noticed she had a tattoo on her neck identical to the security footage photo.

He then talked to the manager, who confirmed the woman in the photo indeed was his receptionist. Confronted, Blanco admitted to being the perpetrator. No word if the victim did, in fact, receive Marriott points.
