Maharashtra: PG medical dissertations can be given by April 2021

Final-year post-graduate medical students attending to Covid-19 patients have been permitted to submit dissertations by April 2021. A four-month extension was granted as these students, who normally have to submit their thesis by the end of December, have been on Covid duty since the past six months.

MUMBAI: Final-year post-graduate medical students attending to Covid-19 patients have been permitted to submit dissertations by April 2021. A four-month extension was granted as these students, who normally have to submit their thesis by the end of December, have been on Covid duty since the past six months.
Representatives of Maharashtra State Association of Resident Doctors (MARD), who met medical education minister Amit Deshmukh on Wednesday, discussed various issues of medical students and resident doctors as also their academic progress affected by Covid duty.
Some of the major announcements are start of academic sessions from October 15 on the lines of AIIMS, surgical training, extension of time for dissertation, re-exam of students who missed exams and practical courses.
“ Since Covid-19 cases are not being handled in various hospitals for the past few days, permission has been granted to perform surgeries, and the medical college course will start from 15th October, 2020,” said a MARD representative. Students also demanded waiver of their fees as no lectures were held, but that was turned down; they can pay in three instalments.
Maharashtra University of Health Sciences has released the timetable for the winter session of MBBS exams in offline mode. October prelims will be online.
