Man fatally run over on NJ Turnpike moments after surviving car crash

A New Jersey man survived a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike early Monday morning — but was fatally run over moments later when he got out of his car, cops said.

Francis Marte, 29, of New Brunswick, had parked his vehicle on the Turnpike’s inner shoulder after the initial crash in Edison at around 3 a.m., according to New Jersey State Police.

He was attempting to cross the highway when a northbound minivan struck him in the travel lane, police said.

Marte was pronounced dead on the scene.

The 45-year-old minivan driver, a Maryland resident, was not charged.

The collision remains under investigation, cops said.
