Collapsed Tent At Buckhead Hotel Sends 3 People To Hospital

Strong winds and a severe thunderstorm warning Saturday caused a tent to collapse at a Buckhead resort in Atlanta.

BUCKHEAD, GA — Strong winds caused a tent to collapse, which landed three people in the hospital and more injured at The St. Regis Resort & Hotel Atlanta on West Paces Ferry Road on Saturday, reports 11Alive.

The Atlanta Fire Rescue team was called in. According to authorities, the tent on an upper-level patio at the hotel collapsed. Grady Emergency Medical Services responders arrived first.

Five to six patients had minor injuries and lacerations, Atlanta Fire Rescue spokesperson Cortez Stafford tells the station. Grady EMS took three patients to the hospital for further treatment. No one had any life-threatening injuries.

The fire crew was on the scene for about 40 minutes, said Stafford, who attributes the tent falling to the wind. There was a severe weather warning for metro Atlanta and other Georgia counties on Saturday.
