Parachute has long been one of our go-to sources for home essentials—first with its sumptuous bedding and cozy towels, which it followed up with chic table linens. Now, the company is ready to take on a new venture, while keeping with the theme of their brand's mission statement: to inspire a community around sleep, wellness, and creating a comfortable home.
Today, Parachute is launching rugs that align with their cozy, bohemian style. The handwoven carpets come in four different styles and various sizes and, like nearly all of Parachute's offerings, are made from 100% natural fibers. For the rugs, that means a blend of cotton and wool—with no synthetic materials in sight and no harmful chemicals used during the process.
"While Parachute initially launched with a focus on creating impeccable bedding products, it has always been our intention to expand beyond the bedroom and create comfort in every room of the home," says Ariel Kaye, founder and CEO of Parachute. "We’re excited to launch a collection of rugs that work beautifully in any room, wherever you can use a little extra color, texture or comfort."
For the new category, Parachute has collaborated with a Fair Trade partner in Panipat, India—also known as the "City of Weavers"—where each rug is created over the course of around four weeks, weaved using traditional looms by artisans that hand-separate, dye and spin the wool themselves.
"Our assortment is inspired by our overall design philosophy and aesthetic—timeless, unfussy pieces in neutral colors that can be easily mixed, matched and layered," says Kaye. "I love that we’ve created four incredibly versatile yet unique rugs for any room in your home."
Parachute's mission to give back to the community is still extremely important to them in India, and the brand partnered with a manufacturer that will be providing education for their employees' children and job opportunities for their spouses. Protecting the surrounding environment is also high on Parachute's list of responsibilities—for this project, they partnered with manufacturers that operate their own solar and wind power generation projects in the area to lessen their carbon footprint.
