When it comes to affordable, family-friendly fun, Discover Davis tops the list as your Utah winter getaway base camp. Located just minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport and nestled between the stunning Great Salt Lake and snow-capped Wasatch Mountains, Davis is just 30 minutes from Snowbasin and within an hour of eight other world-class ski resorts.

The adventures are just beginning on the nearby slopes—there are plenty of opportunities for families to make memories in Utah's Amusement Capital! Snowmobiling in the Wasatch Mountains, ice rinks, exploring Antelope Island, plus over 500 miles of trails are just the tip of the iceberg. Add indoor fun centers and a talented local arts scene, plus family-friendly hotels and hundreds of restaurants to choose from, and you'll discover Davis has everything you need for an exciting Utah staycation or winter getaway.

Explore Antelope Island

Winter visitors to Antelope Island State Park enjoy hiking, biking, wildlife watching and nature photography wrapped in a blanket of solitude. You won't find crowds this time of year, but you will find plenty of free-roaming wildlife. Keep an eye out for bald eagle sightings in January and February, in addition to the usual suspects like bison, pronghorn antelope and even coyote.

Antelope Island is perfect for exploring by mountain bike or eBike, and also on foot, with trails for all levels of hikers. Two of the most popular are the half-mile hike to Buffalo Point to catch a perfect island sunset and a full-day hiking adventure to Frary Peak. Bonus: Antelope Island State Park is also a designated International Dark Sky Park, with dazzling starry skies and Milky Way views. The west side of the island is the darkest spot in Davis!

Experienced hikers won't want to miss Farmington Creek's frozen waterfall. Or strap on those snowshoes and start exploring the terrain about Bountiful, Farmington and Layton. Wherever you go, the expansive views are everything.

Another option for exploring the beautiful Wasatch Mountains is snowmobiling. Bring your own snowmobile and head for the hills where you'll discover untracked snow and non-groomed snowmobile routes above the Wasatch Valley.
