HARRIS COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - The identity of a woman killed in a kayaking incident that left three others injured has been identified.

Harris County Coroner Joe Weldon has confirmed that 37-year-old Fallon Wells from Henagar, Alabama died when the kayak she was in with her 11-year-old son went through a low head dam on the Chattahoochee River on Saturday, Mar. 30.

The son sustained minor injuries in the incident.

Coroner Weldon also says Wells’ husband and daughter were in a second kayak and sustained injuries.

East Alabama Fire Chief Kerry Pickard says they were able to quickly locate the victims and get them out of the water and into ambulances.

Officials say in light of the tragic event they want to stress the importance of wearing life jackets and making sure kayakers know the river beforehand.
