PROVIDENCE, RI — Rhode Islanders are clear to enter three states at their will again.

On Tuesday, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut all removed the Ocean State from their list of states requiring a 14-day quarantine or proof of a negative coronavirus test.

Rhode Island was reclassified by the states last week following a slight uptick in cases, which Gov. Gina Raimondo and health officials blamed primarily on social gatherings without masks or social distancing.

Raimondo called it "a wake-up call" for the state.

"I can't convince the other governors to change their rules," Raimondo said. "I'll have to convince Rhode Islanders to follow our own rules."

Rhode Islanders are still required to quarantine when visiting Massachusetts, with the exception of crossing the border for groceries and other essential errands.
