Erie County reports 16 COVID-19 deaths on Thursday, 239 new cases

Erie County reported 16 deaths Thursday due to COVID-19 complications, the highest number reported in a single day since Jan. 28.

Those deaths did not all occur in a single day, however. The county tends to report COVID-19 deaths in groups once or twice a week.

County officials did not immediately know when the deaths occurred. A total of 573 county residents has died from COVID-19 since the pandemic started.
