What you need to know

All trash, including grass clippings, must be bagged and placed inside Big Blue trash carts for pick-up. Solid waste crews will leave behind a cart tag to remind people of the new policy if they set out bagged trash outside the carts.

If you don’t have enough Big Blue carts to accommodate bagged trash or landscape trimmings, call Utilities Customer Service at (405) 297-2833 to order additional carts.

Each customer is allowed to have up to four total Big Blue trash carts. This includes the two Big Blue trash carts that are part of regular service, plus two additional carts. For the duration of the COVID-19 emergency, the Utilities Department will waive excess cart fees for those customers who order additional carts while the temporary policy is in place.

Customers who use commercial contractors for landscape service need to ask their landscapers to carry off the landscape waste and dispose of it.

Alternative to bagging grass include mulching it for compost, or allowing it to sit on top of the grass as a moisture barrier. You can’t sweep or blow grass clippings into storm drains.

For more information, or to order a cart, call Utilities Customer Service at (405) 297-2833.
