Have you ever wanted to live in a castle? This Plano home looks like it came out of a storybook, and it’s on the market for a cool $4.7 million. This is the first time the home has been on the market.
Custom-built in 1999 by Dallas builder Bob Thompson, the home has 13,521 square feet of living space. There are five bedrooms, six bathrooms and two half-bathrooms, along with a number of rooms for entertaining.
Listing agent Cindy O’Gorman of Ebby Halliday said the home doesn’t look like anything else in the neighborhood, and the quality sets it far above the others in this price range.
“It is just a one-of-a-kind design,” she said. “If someone loves Europe and villas, they can escape to their own villa in the heart of the city.”
Visitors are greeted by a grand entryway complete with tall ceilings and an opulent chandelier. The entryway leads through a hallway and into a living room complete with a fireplace and picture-frame paneling along the walls. Up above, a catwalk-like passageway on the second level offers views of both the entryway and the living room on either side of the hallway.
The home’s kitchen has a unique painted design on the ceiling and natural light that flows through the windows. The nearby family room is open to the kitchen. It is surrounded by windows on two sides of the room and features a large fireplace and vaulted ceilings adorned with wooden beams. There’s also a catering kitchen in the home for entertaining purposes that can be closed off from other areas if needed.
The windows in the family room look into the indoor pool area. The pool is surrounded by stone flooring, and the room is bathed in natural light due to a large window at one end of the pool.
Wood shelves and cabinets cover the walls of the home’s library (which has a sliding ladder) and a second office to one side of the library. The home also has a soundproof theater room, complete with a stage, a sun room, a formal dining room and a card room.
The primary suite is on the first floor, and the bedroom has doors that access the outdoors. The primary bathroom is complete with a coffee bar, a large closet outfitted with storage spaces, a dressing area and an exercise room. There’s also a full-size laundry room off of the primary bathroom.
The back patio overlooks the landscaped grounds of the 2.42-acre gated property. There’s a grill on the patio, and there is room for covered outdoor seating areas. The home has an unfinished area above the garage that could be finished out as a guest quarters, O’Gorman said.
