Union Co., S.C. (WSPA) — One driver was thrown from a truck when she was hit by a passing vehicle on Jonesville Lockhart Highway.

A total of five people were taken to the hospital after the Wednesday morning crash near Knox Drive.

Master Trooper Gary Miller with the S.C. Highway Patrol said a Union woman was turning left into a driveway when her Chevrolet pickup truck was hit by a vehicle attempting to pass her. 

The Chevy driver was thrown from the truck. 

She was airlifted to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The other driver and three passengers in his vehicle were also hurt.

They were taken by ambulance to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

The 18-year-old driver from Chester, S.C. has been cited for improper passing and operating an uninsured vehicle, Miller said. 

He said the woman driving the truck is facing citations for not wearing a seatbelt and operating an uninsured vehicle.
