Jorja Smith burst onto a lot of music fanatics’ radars by proving the hype is real with her acclaimed Lost & Found debut album back in June. The British singer returned Wednesday (Sept. 19) with a creative video for a standout cut from the project, “On Your Own.”
The 21-year-old sends one of her dedicated fans a photo book detailing her tales of love in a journey that comes to life through a series of cinematic photo spreads. The volume includes Smith gracing the cover of a magazine along with personal polaroids and hand-drawn illustrations.
Rashid Babiker helms the captivating clip and already had a vision in mind for the video treatment prior to hearing from the emerging songstress. “I was imagining books, the hardback clothbound ones, being retrofitted into interactive photo books, or video books sometime in the future when print is in the terminal stages of obsolescence,” Babiker says via press release.
