The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department offers free Home Vacation Checks year-round. Let us know when you are leaving and the Sheriff’s Ramona Senior Volunteer Patrol will keep a watchful eye on your home while you are away.

The Ramona Senior Volunteer Patrol will do the following free security inspections around your home as time permits:

  • Check that house and garage doors are locked.
  • Check for broken windows.
  • Hide newspapers and packages away from public view
  • Check for any obvious sprinkler leaks, flooding, pool problems or any suspicious activity.
  • Call the homeowner or their designated contact if anything unusual occurs.
  • Call for a deputy’s assistance if there is a problem.
  • Upon your return, you will receive a welcome home letter listing the dates your home was checked and observations made during the visits.

To take advantage of this service, complete and return the Home Vacation Check form to the Ramona Sheriff’s substation at 1424 Montecito Ave. (across the street from Albertsons). The Home Vacation Check form can be found at: https://www.sdsheriff.gov/community/home-vacation-check
